Biography

Paulus, the son of Coenradt van der Beek and Elsje Jans, was married to Jannetje Jans Springsteen, the daughter of Johannes Caspersz Springsteen and Maria Theunis. Together they baptized seven children, and may have also been the parents of Jannetje Vanderbeek, who married Jacob Brouwer. [1]

Paulus removed from Gowanus New York to New Barbadoes New Jersey, joined Hackensack church 1 April 1721. His will dated 5 June 1761, probate 3 April 1762. Left a silver teapot to grandau Jane, who was daughter of his daughter Eltje Kipp. [2]

Recommend that Isaac Vanderbeek Vanderbeck-99 be added as son. He is listed in the church baptismal record as Isack. This will also Make a connection to Isaac's branch.

I have connected Isaac to his parents. Thanks for creating Isaac's profile and helping to connect him and his descendants!

FYI: Along the way, I added a citation to his baptism record as found in the published transcript of the church register, which is available for free on Family Search (and was already documented on this profile), and I revised his LNAB to van der Beecke, the name shown on the baptism record. The Nelson "Cyclopedia" that was cited on his profile is a derivative (secondary) source of a type (sometimes called "brag books" or "mug books") that are often very helpful, but that should be used with caution because they are prone to errors. The baptism record is the only primary record I compared it with, but I note that Nelson had an incorrect date (3 March instead of 30 March -- likely a typo), and does not show the contemporary name spellings that I found on the baptism record (the church record calls him Isack and gives the surname as van der Beecke, versus the names Isaac and Vander Beek found in the Nelson book).

Vanderbeek-40 and Van der Beeck-22 do not represent the same person because: my mistake I think
